Self Governing

Group of Children

JBs are an integral, yet self governing part of CISV.
But what does this mean?

Essential. Yes, we are essential.  Junior Branch is a very important part of CISV as a whole.  JB trains youth who become active members of CISV programs and administration, JB provides innovation and creativity to every aspect of the organisation, JB is full of committed people with energy willing to take the time to imagine and create what CISV can do.  JB creates projects, it develops attitudes, skills and knowledge, and it motivates and encourages people to remain as members of the organisation.

But what is self governing? And why is JB self governing?
Self governing means that JB is independant.  That although we are a part of CISV and work towards the CISV goals, we also have our own set of goals, and our own priorities, and it is essential to Junior Branch that JBers be given the space to turn those goals into reality, however they think the most effective way to do so is.  One of the biggest learning in experiences in JB is not participating in JB, so much as being a creator of the JB work in your chapter.  In order to do this properly, JBers need to be able to make their own decisions, independent of outside influence.
